Essential Oils For Younger Looking Skin

There comes a time in life when we notice that the soft plump skin of youth starts to change. As we age, fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. The skin is our largest organ, it protects us from the outside world and helps to maintain our bodies natural temperature. The outer layer of skin, and the part that we see, is called the epidermis. The epidermis is a visual representation of all of the lower layers of skin, called the basel layer as this is where the new moist, plump cells are produced. On their journey through the layers, these plump new cells meet certain threats which strip them of some of their moisture, making then thinner. It takes the plump new skin cells around four months to reach the outer layer of skin, so the way in which we treat our bodies won’t show up in your skin until around four months later. If you eat healthy foods and drink enough water your skin will look more plump and radiant but if you eat unhealthy foods and drink lots of fizzy drinks and/or alcohol, for example, your skin will start to look dull and will age more quickly. Rejuvenating our skin at the base level is the key to a more youthful appearance. Essential oils are fantastic for helping to maintain more youthful skin. The proteins and nutrients that are in essential oils help to keep the cells plump and encourage the regeneration of new cells. Some essential oils work really well for stimulating the circulation which oxygenates the blood, in turn energising the cells enabling the regeneration to take place while other essential oils, such as fennel, contain a hormone like property which encourages firming of the skin. It stands to reason that firstly it is best to start with a healthy diet and with a more holistic interest to health and wellness as using essential oils alone with an unhealthy lifestyle won’t give you the best results.
